Attachment and Trauma Informed Psychotherapy
“I haven’t felt this good, light, and non-anxious in a long time”
Hello, I’m Alison
A BACP Registered Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor, with a special interest in helping people navigate relational trauma.
I would like to have the opportunity to help you feel more authentically connected to yourself and others.
If you would like to book a free consultation with me, please click below and we can arrange an online video call.
I predominantly offer online therapy, and have some availability for walk and talk therapy in the Newcastle-under-Lyme area.
I work with people age 16+
“I have seen my progress with regards to anxiety over the time I have worked with Alison. I no longer feel crippled or held back by my mental health. I feel more confident in myself, and more able to give myself support and compassion. There is still work to do, but Alison provided a much needed outlet to make sense of everything that was going on internally.” (Alula)
Do you want to feel lighter, brighter and better connected to yourself and in your relationships?
Do you recognise any of the following…
You had some difficult experiences growing up that you are finding hard to move on from.
You have anxious and overwhelming feelings, or think the worst is going to happen.
You often put yourself down and find it hard to show yourself compassion.
You would like your relationships to feel more fulfilling.
You feel unheard, unloved, guilty, blamed or shamed.
You feel held back, but know deep down that things could feel better.
You have high expectations and often don’t feel good enough.
You would like to communicate your feelings more assertively.
A huge thank you for all the help you provided over the last 10 months. Your incite, understanding and compassion helped me find the tools I needed to not just get through the anxieties brought on by the pandemic but to evaluate and process those in the bigger picture. I know I’ll never be completely anxiety free but I am in a far better place to deal with it when it pops up
Alison is everything a good counsellor should be. She is kind and empathetic and when asking questions she prods you in a gentle way to allow you to get to the bottom and truly deconstruct difficult areas of your life. I have seen such massive growth within myself since having counselling with Alison. I feel capable of challenging negative thoughts that may arise in my head and finding out where that thought has come from. I have gotten comfortable with celebrating and being proud of myself and have become more confident in setting boundaries for my personal wellbeing. I would strongly recommend her to anyone needing a safe space to explore themselves.
Adult Counselling and Psychotherapy
I offer attachment and trauma informed psychotherapy tailored to your unique aims and requirements. The style of therapy I offer helps you to develop a better understanding of yourself so you can reach your personal goals, and find a place of self-acceptance.
I provide a transformative and compassionate space to enable positive change so that you can live a more fulfilling life. Through our sessions you can improve confidence, emotional wellbeing, relationships, and reduce anxiety.
If you have experienced loss or difficult life events which you have not had the opportunity to process, you could be stuck in an uncomfortable emotional state. Having a safe place to explore these experiences can enable you to discover better ways to cope and to have shifts in your perception and outlook.
What I liked about working with Alison was her calm understanding and patience as I tried to work through some issues
She is amazing at listening, and picking out the parts of what you’re saying to put back in front of you so you can see them clearer. I always came away feeling lighter and happier

How I work
You don’t have to go through this alone. Exploring your experiences in a safe space really can help. It helps untangle and reform your experiences into something that feels way more manageable.
Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate and practical. We’ll work at a pace that feels safe and contained. I work using a person-centred approach alongside IFS parts work, somatic inquiry, and draw from other theoretical approaches such as Transactional Analysis and Polyvagal Theory.
Parts work can be very powerful as it can help you access protective parts of yourself that may be causing internal conflict, or holding you back in some way.
Alongside curious and compassionate inquiry, I can offer guided imagery, mind and body meditations, breath work, and other interventions to help you access more unreachable parts, so you can build a sense of self-compassion, self-acceptance, emotional regulation and better overall wellbeing.
My style of counselling holds you at the centre, so you can bring the content to the session and together we can open it up and explore it as much as you need to. I value getting to know you by hearing your thoughts and experiences, and exploring your emotions at your pace.
I’m curious and ask open questions, allowing you space to share as much detail as you want. I will never judge you or minimise your experience. I offer reflections and notice themes that can lead to valuable insights.
Fee’s
It can be a difficult decision to invest in something when you are unsure how it works, or whether you will find a connection with your therapist. I would like to offer you a free initial appointment so you can ask any questions and discover how I can help. I have worked with hundreds of people over the years who have experienced a positive shift in perspective during therapy. They have been able to let go of anxieties and negative self-beliefs, move forward and live their lives with confidence and compassion.
“I just wanted to say thank you as what we worked through in our last session was beyond helpful and it really made me reflect and make some life changes. And I haven’t felt this good, light, and non-anxious in such a long time.”
These shifts can be the catalyst for some wonderful life changes.
For some it only takes a few sessions, others benefit from longer-term therapy. Either way, you decide how long you stay.
If you would like some focused time to process or explore something specific, but don’t feel you need more than one session, you can book a one-off counselling session with me HERE.
